Steve Thomas and Mark Newton & The Stillhouse Band Coming to Fredericksburg, Virginia To Benefit The Fraternal Order Of Eagles Diabetes Research Center

Mark Newton and Steve Thomas proudly announce their upcoming show in Newton’s hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia on November 17th at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 21 Cool Springs Road. The evening of Bluegrass will feature a number of bands to include Virginia native Junior Sisk and his band Ramblers Choice, Copper Ridge, Page County Ramblers, and Milford Station. The evening concert will benefit the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center. Tickets are $25 for the evening.

Newton is well known for his contributions to the field of bluegrass and acoustic music as an artist, producer, writer, and vocalist. Thomas, a highly regarded writer and producer, has been involved with various forms of acoustic music for over 30 years including recording with artists to include Brooks and Dunn, The Whites, Barbara Mandrell, and The Osborne Brothers to name a few. Their shows are high energy and run a spectrum of musical genres reaching from Merle Haggard cover tunes, to bluegrass standards, to original material.

“I am looking forward to coming back to Fredericksburg” said Newton. “It’s always wonderful to come home, especially when we get to play some music and support a good cause like diabetes research. It will be great to see old friends and make new ones during the evening performance.”

Thomas and Newton have performed in a variety of bands over the years and have contributed much to the world of acoustic music. The shows are always filled with a wide variety of music, covering country, bluegrass, roots, folk, and Americana. The shows cover a wide genre that will appeal to listening audiences of all types.
The event will kick off at 5pm. There is a $25.00 cover charge for the show. No outside beverages permitted. Food & beverages will be available for purchase. This show is ages 21 and up. Event is being held at Fredericksburg Eagles #4123 located at 21 Cool Spring Road Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Proceeds will benefit the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) Diabetes Research Center (DRC). In a unanimous decision by more than 700 voting FOE delegates from across the United States and Canada, the Eagles will partner with the University of Iowa in a five year fundraising project that will culminate with the FOE DRC at the University of Iowa . The FOE DRC will be a dedicated center for diabetes research within the Institute for Biomedical Discovery Building at the University of Iowa. Money donated by the FOE will go directly to medical research.
