The present brick church was built sometime around 1820. The new building was used by Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Baptist, and Methodist congregations on rotating Sundays. This church remained in use until 1950, when a violent storm destroyed all but the facade. All that stands today is the front of the church and the belfry (with bell intact) . During the Civil War, the church was used as a hospital by Federal troops.
